Veritas recommends that you always have enough free space available to be able to restore the largest VM completely. Provide additional free space to the restore destination, so that there is enough space available to store the complete VM server the restore is for. You will need to have at least 2Tb of free space available on the Destination.
In this scenario, the restore will fail, even though there is enough space to store the single 500Gb disk. The Restore job will fail with Error 0xe00095a4 - Operation failed because the vCenter or ESX server reported a problem creating or accessing one or more necessary files A Partial Restore (of one or more VMDK disks) of a VMware Guest, will fail if the target destination does not have enough free space available to store a copy of the complete VM server.
